I’m not your stereotypical yoga teacher. My intention is to shift yoga culture, so that every day real people aren’t put off by yoga. I believe in finding a balance between your yoga practise and lifestyle, breaking the “rules” if you need to, whilst respecting the yoga tradition – I encourage you to find your own path. Take what you need from yoga, be who you are and be free!
My vision is that one day all the stuff that blocks people from doing yoga drops away. A time where there is no pretense & no prerequisites. I would love it if one day people turned up to my classes wearing what they want, after chilling in the sun with a beer. Where they don’t feel intimated by fakeness, chanting, snobbery, who’s got the most fancy leggings on, who’s the most flexible, who’s drinking what super smoothie. Just coming to classes as you are, being completely free to be you.
I’ve taught classes in England, Australia & New Zealand. My students tend to be, people from all walks of life, with varying body types, physical abilities and emotional states. My journey into yoga began at the end of my teens, when I was in a sour place. Around this time it was suggested that I try yoga to help deal with what was going on and to help me to gain a more positive perspective on the future. After practising yoga for a short while, I found it gave my mind more clarity and focus. I came to realise that life is in a constant state of flux and, from this, yoga then became more and more of an integral tool to help me deal with not only the lows, but also the highs in life, and it helped me to maintain a more positive state of being. Ever since I’ve used yoga as a tool to iron-out any aches and pains in my body and to calm my mind so that I am not constantly restless. If I do not practise yoga I notice it. First in how my thoughts come and go and which ones I choose to act on and secondly my body begins to feel stiff after a couple of days. After practising yoga for eight years, I felt a burning urge to share the benefits of yoga with others and it was then that I decided to take the deep lunge and become a yoga Teacher. I graduated from Yoga London with a Yoga Alliance 200 hour RYT Qualification in May 2015.
I hope to share all that I have learnt about yoga with my students, I want my classes to remain open and accessible to all, so that they can get the benefits out of yoga as I have.
